How much snow?!

Well it has been snowing pretty much non stop for the last few days and even the very organised snow clearing systems of St Anton are struggling to cope with it. So much has come down that the snow ploughs shift it from the roads but it then ends up covering the footpaths! Lorry loads of it are being dumped daily into the river but still when you drive along the side roads it is like driving through a tunnel, snow banks on both sides of the road sometimes up to twelve feet high! Cars parked outside are covered and all you can see are big lumps in the snow. Where I live the snow ploughs have not been through for some days and the snow outside is approaching first floor level in some places, my kitchen window has snow half way up it and outside the front door it is at least six feet deep! Looking out from my balcony at the apartment block opposite there is a massive overhang of snow from the roof. I have been here for 10 years and have not seen anything like it, sometimes Alte Arlbergstrasse down to the village is almost completely blocked and often reduced to a single lane – great fun when you drive down and have people skiing down in front of you!!
